Second Dutch Ark- full size

Welcome!
This website gives an impression of the second Noah’s Ark that is being built full size.
The first Ark that was built by Johan Huibers was about half the Biblical size. That Ark opened to the public in April 2007. It travels through Holland to moore at different harbours.
Driven by a great desire to reach as many people as possible and tell them about God’s love for them it seems that now is the time to build an Ark full size that will travel around the world.
This project is just at an initial stage, but it will hopefully visit the first place within two years. If this is possible is not sure yet, but via this website we are giving you the chance to follow this project from the start!

  1. I am in awe of the faithfulness needed to undertake either the first or the full size projects. GOD truly is an intergal part of this endeavor.
I find that it is remarkable that those of us Christians out here would love to see it. Bespeaks volumes of our desire. I noticed a visitor locator on the page but. most remarable is that LACK of visitors rom China and the eastern(or western I’m a little fuzzy here) edge of Asia.
I believe we Christians, who would like to see it should try to fund a visit to the countries not visiting here. That way the spread of the WORD could be passed on not only to the knowledgable, but to those who don’t know the WORD of GOD at all, or very little.

    Just a thought.

  2. How exciting! I hope that this great feat will be accomplished. Please let us know how things are progressing.

(you’ll need to remove NOSPAM from my email address before sending.)

  3. When you have finished the full sized ark, don’t forget
to fill it up with two examples of ALL of the estimated
1.5 to 2 million species of animals on the planet
(including marine species as they would not have survived the Deluge) and live with them for a year( plus
    7 human caretakers)
I’m sure it will be a very interesting experiment.

  4. FYI this is a 1/2 scale replica, not a full size replica. The original ARK was therefore twice as big as this replica.

Zen Badger – bear in mind that full grown adult specimens would likely NOT have been brought aboard the ark. By taking young specimens , less room would have been required. And 1.5 Million species does not necessarily mean 1.5 million “kinds” as defined in Genesis. A canine might represent wolves, dogs, etc… And most species of animals are smaller than a housecat. The animals would easily have fit.

  5. Zen Badger’s comment is interesting and worthy of addressing, without any condemnation. The command of God to Noah did not include sanctuary nor provision for creatures which were restricted to a marine environment. Noah only brought aboard birds and land-dwelling creatures which had the breath of life in them. There is some debate as to whether this latter group would have included specimens from the insect world (do they have the breath of life?) which conceivably could have survived the global flood in floating vegetation mats; mats which would also have served the insects as an excellent source of food. As to the number of creatures which Noah took on board, the figure of “1.5 to 2 million” is misleading in that the preservation of a species or of all species would not require specimens of every species to have survived the deluge but rather only specimens of the various parent kinds would need to survive from which the various species would again descend after the flood had ended. For example, if all dog species (e.g. great danes, chihuahuas) have descended from parent kinds (e.g. wolf, fox), as science suggests, it would not be necessary to include all the various species of dogs in Noah’s menagerie. Only the parent kinds would need to survive to repopulate and restore or produce the wide variety of species we have today. You can follow this same idea with cats, finches, etc.. Keep being critical Zen Badger, but don’t stop with your initial comments. Do the critical investigation work as well.

  6. This is amazing! Apart from all the animal detail stuff, I am convinced that if people (non-believers) see the Ark built in documented biblical proportions, many will begin to doubt their non-belief! Well done and may God bless your endeavors!

  7. Thank-you Johan Huibers for being obedient and tackling this enormous task in faith.May it remind lots of people how great is God! I am excited about the project of building a full scale ark, and I know it will succeed.Hopefully I can have the opportunity to see it, but if not, the photos will help.
